I never want to make that baked macaroni and cheese again. Food Network and Alton Brown let me down. I feel like I'm drowning in cholesterol. Gross gross gross.
(not that you asked but) Here's a good mac n cheese recipe--although it's not a baked casserole. It uses butternut squash so you can cut back on some of the cheese. Also, I usually just use skim milk instead of the cream that rachel ray calls for. I don't usually get the frozen squash either--I get it fresh and then cut it in half and bake it in the oven for an hour. I hope you like this better than what you tried!
Weird. I usually trust Alton. Plus 846 reviews on that recipe and mostly good! But the powdered mustard sounds gross. It's true that most mac and cheese recipes call for mustard, but that's the first time I've seen the powder in a recipe. Can I put a plug in here for vegan mac 'n cheese? Beauteous. And I also put Kabocha squash and spinach in it. (sometimes bacon, because I'm crazy like that.)

I sure hope that's not what the onion was for. Onion macaroni sounds double eew.

Katie--that was INDEED what we borrowed an onion for. Blech. We'll bring you a shiny new onion tonight.
Holly--I will definitely try that recipe. I love butternut squash and using all that cheese makes me feel gluttony. Thanks!
